Kolkata: Trinamool Congress workers and supporters were allegedly attacked by BJP workers at several places in Hooghly and Bankura. In protest Trinamool supporters put up a road blockade at Ratanpur near Gurap in Hooghly. Later police assured to take action after which road blockade was withdrawn.From the Martyrs’s day rally which was held at Esplanade, party supremo Mamata Banerjee announced that workers will stage demonstration in those spots on Monday and ask police to take proper action against those involved in the incidents. In order to reach Kolkata early in the morning, to attend Martyr’s Day meeting, Trinamool workers and supporters started their journey from Bankura late on Saturday night. Around 1 am, when the buses were passing through Rasulpur, all of a sudden some miscreants pelted stones and bricks at the bus. According to Trinamool workers when the bus was between Bagichabandh and Check Post area, miscreants from the dark areas adjacent to the Bankura-Burdwan Road pelted stone. As the windscreen was damaged, driver had to stop the bus. Within minutes other buses following the first bus were also attacked. Trinamool leadership alleged that other than Rasulpur, BJP backed goons tried to stop Trinamool workers and supporters from going to Kolkata at Indus and Patrasayer. However BJP leadership denied the allegations. In Arambag Trinamool sorkers were allegedly attacked by BJP workers on Sunday night while they were preparing to go to Kolkata on Sunday early morning. It is alleged that on Saturday night when local Trinamool leadership at Bsantapur in Arambag hired a bus and brought the bus to its designated place from where Trinamool workers will board on Sunday morning. All of a sudden few BJP workers attacked TRinamool leaders and workers. Two Trinamool workers were injured due to the attack. Immediately police were informed. Soon police reached the spot and nabbed a BJP worker for attacking Trinamool leaders and workers. On Sunday morning when Trinamool workers were about to start for Kolkata, BJP workers allegedly again created obstruction and tried to block the way. This time huge police force led by a senior police official intervened and managed to provide safe passage to the bus. In another such incident a car coming from Bankura was attacked by BJP workers on the Durgapur Expressway near Gurap. It is alleged that Rathin Dey, president of Bankura District Lawyer’s Cell was going to Kolkata riding his SUV. When the car was passing through Gurap on Durgapur Expressway, few persons from roadside pelted stones on his SUV. As a result window glasses and windscreen of the car were damaged. Later Trinamool worker put up a road blockade protesting the alleged attacks by BJP. Later police assured to take action against the offenders following which road blockade was withdrawn. Due to this several Trinamool workers and supporters reached Esplanade late.
