Nova Scotians and visitors to the province can now get information on summer health and safety from one online source. The province’s Enjoy Summer Safely website provides tips on hand washing, food safety, road safety, avoiding heat illness and preventing illnesses carried by insects and animals. The site also contains links to information on well water testing, sun safety and a wide range of other summer topics. “More Nova Scotians are getting their information from the Internet these days, so the Enjoy Summer Safely site gives them a way to access health and safety information provided by a number of government departments without having to search several sites,” said Dr. Jeff Scott, chief medical officer of health for Nova Scotia. “This website is a great spot for people to get useful tips before they travel the province, or to stay informed if they prefer to remain at home and enjoy their own communities,” said Dr. Scott. The website contains a fact sheet with tips on how to enjoy summer safely, as well as links to many government and related sites on specific summer safety topics. The website can be accessed at www.gov.ns.ca by clicking on the Enjoy Summer Safely icon.
