Texas Coaches ‘Building Relationship’ With Elite 4-Star Quarterback Recruit

The Texas Longhorns are still very involved though.247Sports ranks Hornsby as the No. 89 player in the class of 2020. He is a native of Missouri City, which is in the Houston area, and rated No. 14 in the Lone Star State.Nine of the 10 recruiting analysts that have submitted votes to 247’s crystal ball believe he will be an Aggie. He says that he has made no such decision.Tom Herman’s Texas football staff is still in constant contact with Malik Hornsby as well, specifically offensive coordinator Tim Beck.SB Nation Texas site Burnt Orange Nation spoke to Hornsby about his recruitment. He said that he and Beck are “building a relationship.”When asked what stands out to you about the Texas program, Hornsby had this to say, “They play as a family. It’s Burnt Orange, you know. I used to watch Vince Young back in the day.”Coach Beck has made an assertive effort to maintain a relationship with Hornsby.“I talk to Tim Beck all of the time,” Hornsby said. “He actually texted me before the game and told me good luck. We’re building a relationship.”Texas fans have to like that Vince Young tidbit as well. Young is a Houston native, and was obviously a great dual-threat signal caller for the ‘Horns.It might be an uphill battle, but Texas does already have a 2020 quarterback in the fold already as well.
