first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Last night we had some storms come through. We lost power for three or four hours but we got six tenths out of it. We got a nice shot of rain.In the last three weeks we got 1.2 inches in one storm and then another three tenths after that and then six tenths in the last shot. We have been catching some rains. I think it will definitely help the beans. Some of the beans were planted in later May and I think it will really help them fill out. The corn is pretty much all dented and I think it is what it is.I think it was too hot during pollination. The lows at night weren’t low enough during pollination and that is what really hurt us. There is quite a bit of tip-back and you have some pollination issues. We have had a couple farms of double-crops that caught some early rains right up by the lake. About half of the double-crops are probably worth cutting. The other half we’ll leave and keep the fields clean but there won’t be much there.I would say our first beans are probably a month away yet. We have one field of seed corn that will be picked really soon, within a week. It was an 85-day maturity corn. Other than that, we don’t have anything close to harvest. We are not planting much wheat this fall. We are looking at 100 acres and half of that is where we are planning on doing some tiling next year.last_img
