A resident on Langside Avenue discovered Brett Paine, 18, inside his house at approximately 10 p.m. and called 911, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department report. Paine, brandishing a knife, ran out the back into the hills behind the residence, the report said. Deputies, using two canine units and a helicopter, searched the area but did not find the intruder. Later that evening, Paine was located and identified by the victim as the person that burglarized his home, according to the report. Paine was booked at Santa Clarita Valley station on suspicion of residential burglary.
