It is completely free to attend and does not require any registration. The workshop is open to all ages and skill levels. “This is not an exclusive club just for people who are actively writing, so if you’re a great reader and would like to come out and just meet two great authors that are nominated, this is definitely an event for you as well,” says program coordinator Morgan Peltier. While the workshop isn’t necessary exclusive to active writers, those who are can expect to walk away with new skills.“They’re obviously going to be coming with a lot of activities and advice along just the craft of writing and storytelling, as well as how they have gone about the writing and creating process – all the way through the publishing process” explains Peltier. “I know a lot of people, local or elsewhere, that practice the writing craft on their own, but possibly getting to that publication point can be a bit of a stumbling block.”- Advertisement -In fact the growing number of local writers acted as a catapult to this year’s format, according to Peltier.“The last year or so, we’ve seen just this huge growth in [the] writers’ community in Fort St. John,” Peltier goes on to say. “There are several writers groups – a couple that meet at the library….and we thought with this really healthy interest in the writing craft, this might be a fantastic opportunity to connect these local aspiring, or practicing, published writers with authors who are writing and sharing their work on a provincial and national level.”The two authors secured for this year’s workshop are Aislinn Hunter, who has been nominated for her book The World Before Us, and Gabrielle Prendergast – author of Capricious.Advertisementlast_img
