first_imgJane Elizabeth Spencer, 56, of Greensburg IN passed away on April 20, 2020 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.Jane was born on April 17, 1964 in Greensburg, IN to William Francie and Betty Catherine Newby. She married Brian Spencer on January 1, 1988 and they have been married for the last 32 years.Throughout her life, Jane was a devoted mentor and supporter of her family, especially her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, whom she adored. Jane was also a devoted “dog-mom” to her beloved fur babies and never missed the opportunity to support one of her favorite organizations – People Assisting Animals In Need (PAAIN). When she was not spending time with loved ones, Jane was an avid antiquer, Harry Potter fan and murder-mystery enthusiast. Jane loved being able to travel, especially to some of her favorite places on the West Coast. She was also a proud member of the International Order of the Rainbow Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star.Jane was a passionate advocate for organ donation who devoted much of her life to supporting the Indiana Donor Network and was instrumental in assisting with the BMV integration of organ donor registration. As the grateful recipient of multiple organ transplants, Jane also become an advocate for the education of medical students and was fond of saying that she had “helped train a lot of nurses and doctors over the years” as she was often being treated in teaching hospitals and truly enjoyed watching new providers learn.Jane is survived by her husband, Brian Spencer; siblings, John(Cora) Newby, Ann (Jeff) Willeford, Charlie (Nancy) Newby; siblings-in-law, Jeff Spencer, Jill (Dave) Dudek, Mark (Lyly) Spencer, and Terri Newby; ten nieces, six nephews, eleven great-nieces and 14 great-nephews; and her beloved dogs Peanut and Sam.Jane was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Betty Newby, brother Bill Newby, great-nephew Aaron Hoffman and beloved beagle Samantha.Due to the recent public health mandate of limited gatherings, a private graveside service will be held for the immediate family at the Hebron Cemetery in Adams.Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.Online condolences can be made to the family at www.popfuneralhome.comlast_img
