GetJar’s Cut: 0%GetJar doesn’t take a cut of developer revenue and lets developers use whichever billing solution they feel is best, the company says. Although its recent press release regarding Papaya Mobile is referencing only the one development shop, as opposed to statistics relating to average revenues of GetJar developers, it’s notable nonetheless. In an industry where the standard revenue cut from Apple, Google and other platforms is typically 30%, alternatives where developers get to keep more money are always of interest.Of course, for that 30%, developers get the exposure provided by an official application store. And for iPhone app developers, the official store presence is necessary – iPhone users can’t install apps from unofficial sources without jailbreaking their phone. But for Android, things are different. Google will be launching its in-app payment system this quarter, but according to GetJar, it will require Google Checkout, and, “might not be very good – working with only a handful of carriers.” While that may change in time, as much of what Google launches on Android is updated incrementally, it’s good for developers to know about alternatives that can meet their immediate needs in the meantime.Single-Click Checkout, a Billing System AlternativeIn this case, Billing Revolution’s proprietary Single-Click Checkout product lets users conduct credit card transactions from their mobile phones, without needing a username and password. Launched in November at the Open Mobile Summit, the Citibank-sponsored service has users enter in their credit card information only one time, then saves that info for future transactions. It also works on “any device, with any carrier, using any credit or debit card, anywhere in the world,” the service boasts on its company homepage.Says Andy Kleitsch, CEO of Billing Revolution, “we think a 30 percent rev share by Google and Apple is robbery…were excited to put more money in the pocket of developers.”Single-Click is one of many solutions to spring up to serve the Android developer community. Others include Zong, BOKU and Super Rewards, to name a few. Recently, the company highlighted an example of its success in this area, citing Android developer Papaya Mobile’s first-time conversion rates of 34% and 72% second transaction conversion rates on the GetJar platform. The developer uses an independent checkout solution from Billing Revolution on its Android titles, which charges just $0.15 per transaction. Simply put, that means Papaya Mobile is able to keep more money from its transactions, explains GetJar. Related Posts Tags:#Android#apps#marketing#mobile
Mumbai Indians cheerleader Gabriella Pasqualotto, who was sent home midway through IPL 4 for exposing the antics of some of the top players on a blog, has been offered a role in a major Bollywood movie and has also been invited to the inaugural India Grand Prix in October. According to a report in a South Africa newspaper, the 22-year-old has been flooded with media requests from all over the world since her return to her native country. America’s NBC channel and top radio DJs from Australia have also requested for interviews of her. The South African cheerleader, in a report, has claimed that her blogs were light, fun and innocent and not malicious. “I mentioned Graeme Smith, but that was old news anyway. When I called Aussies ‘naughty’, it was meant as mischievous and not in a sexual way,” Pasqualotto was quoted as saying by The Independent. Pasqualotto’s mother Amanda was furious at the treatment meted out to her daughter by the IPL organisers. “The girls were told to move around in groups, but they packed her into a taxi on her own and sent her off to the airport. She had no airtime, no one called us from the Indian agency despite promising Gabby (Pasqualotto) they would do so. “She had an eight-hour stopover in Dubai and no US dollars to even buy a cup of coffee — we did not even know where she was. It’s a disgrace the way they treated her,” said Amanda. Pasqualotto, meanwhile, said that she was quite happy to stand by her blog and tweets. “I would like to thank everyone on Twitter and Facebook for their support this week and I’m still a big fan of my team, the Mumbai Indians. Maybe there will be a Part III and if there is, it will probably be about this whole debacle,” she said. Pasqualotto was sent back home after she blogged about her role as a cheerleader and the after-dark activities of some of the world’s top cricketers.advertisement- With PTI inputs

Paris: After the panic, the prosecution: investigators in Paris have opened an inquiry to track down the source of false reports last week that drinking water in the French capital had been contaminated. In a viral message spread on the WhatsApp messaging app last week, a woman presenting herself as a nurse from a hospital in Paris can be heard telling people not to drink water from the tap because of the presence of radioactive “titanium”. Other rumours spread that authorities were asking people to stop drinking from the tap. Also Read – Saudi Crown Prince ‘snubbed’ Pak PM, recalled jet from USAlarm reached such levels that hospitals and public health bodies were inundated with calls, while the water authority in Paris put out a public message on social media at the weekend reassuring Parisians that “drinking water poses no threat”. “There is no problem with the water, it is excellent for everyone,” the head of the health body for the capital region, Aurelien Rousseau, added on Saturday in an interview with AFP. Investigators in the Paris prosecutor’s office have now opened an investigation into the crime of “publicising, spreading and reproducing false information intended to cause public disorder”, a judicial source told AFP on Monday. Like many rumours spread on the internet or messaging apps, the story contained a kernel of truth that was distorted or deliberately manipulated to raise alarm. Last Wednesday, a small environmental charity called the Association for the Control of Radioactivity in the West (ACRO) published a report claiming low levels of the radioactive isotope tritium had been found in drinking water. The group said in an alarmist statement that “6.4 million people are supplied with water contaminated with tritium”, which is a byproduct of the nuclear power stations that provide the majority of France’s electricity. But the group itself acknowledged that none of the readings it had seen for tritium were above the European guidance level of 100 Becquerels per litre — a Becquerel is a measure of radioactivity. The World Health Organization sets 10,000 Becquerels per litre as a maximum level. The public water provider in the Paris region, SEDIF, said that the average of its readings showed a level of 9 Becquerels per litre. David Boilley, a physicist who heads the ACRO environmental charity, said that his intention was to raise awareness about low levels of tritium pollution which could indicate the presence of other unspecified radioactive pollutants.
[Update] The Knicks are expected to match Houston’s offer on Jeremy Lin—though they could be scared off by a back-loaded contract that forces them to pay heaby luxury tax in 2014-15. Jeremy Lin, the former Harvard guard who made a month-long splash in the NBA last season with the New York Knicks before suffering a knee injury, plans to spend his 4th of July in Houston discussing a contract offer from the Rockets.Lin became a phenomenon with his stellar play that included scoring 38 points against the Los Angelese Lakers on national television. The Asian-American’s play leveled off after teams began to game-plan for him, but he still displayed scoring and passing acumen. He wants to remain with the Knicks, reports say, and New York has the right of first refusal, meaning it can match any offer sheet he signs to retain him.If Lin is offered a back-loaded contract that pays him an eight-figure salary in the third and fourth years, the Knicks could be hesitant to match the offer. With the new collective bargaining agreement employing a more punitive luxury tax beginning in the 2013-14 season, the Knicks are extremely concerned about the financial ramifications of such a deal. The Knicks can offer Lin a four-year deal worth $24.5 million. But an opposing team can offer Lin a poison pill that could go as high as $40 million over four years. Such a contract would pay Lin $5 million in each of the first two years and then go as high as $15 million in each of the last two years.Matching such a contract would give the Knicks four players — Lin, Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler — making more than $14 million in the 2014-2015 season. Those four players alone would have a combined salary of $72 million, nearly $2 million above the luxury tax.The Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets have all expressed interest in Lin, according to sources, though he is a backup plan for each of the clubs.
